On site: Ordensburg in Sonthofen

After around 15 years of planning, the restructuring and expansion of the Generaloberst-Beck-Barracks in Sonthofen is nearing completion. The impressive, historically listed monument (former Ordensburg) built in 1934-42 (architect: Hermann Giesler) with a size of around 30 hectares is being renovated, restructured and expanded by a number of new buildings: by the end of the year, workshop buildings, laboratory buildings, technical buildings, lecture and practice rooms will be completed.

All in all, this major project is not only about dealing with one of the historically most important building ensembles from the National Socialist era, but also about integrating the new buildings into the spectacular mountain landscape and rearranging the outdoor and open-air facilities.
