Valuable expertise for research project SolarEnvelopeCenter

We are part of the SolarEnvelopeCenter, a joint research project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection that is paving the way for new ways of using photovoltaic systems on façades. Under the leadership of the Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, a consortium of research, industry, planning and construction companies is developing standardized solutions that simplify the planning and construction of building-integrated photovoltaic systems. wulf architekten is the only architectural firm inside the SolarEnvelopeCenter and, together with the construction consultancy Drees & Sommer, is responsible for the practicality of the standards developed.
With the UNIT IT and Computing Center at the University of Mannheim, the Faculty of Life Sciences in Reutlingen and the extension and renovation of the regional prison in Altstätten, wulf architekten is currently implementing several building projects that are exemplary in terms of the use of photovoltaics on the building envelope. The findings from these projects are being incorporated into the research project.

The SolarEnvelopeCenter was launched in January 2023 and will run until the end of 2025. In addition to wulf architekten, the consortium includes the German Society for Solar Energy DGS e.V., the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence DFKI, Drees & Sommer and IBC Solar AG.
