Augustinum Residential Center in Stuttgart

The 290 apartments for seniors are located on the ridge of the Killesberg in an urbanistically and topographically prominent location. The arrangement of the sizable building volume as four paired towers fosters ample permeability in the north-south direction. The building heights are staggered in order to achieve a well-scaled transition to the adjacent residential development – especially to the Weißenhofsiedlung.

The terraced ground floors that follow the sloping terrain accommodate areas for health, food service and cultural activities. The design and material concept is restrained: it lives from a subtle color contrast between the light-gray stucco facades with white window frames and white painted loggias.
