Bredella site, construction site A2 in Pratteln

The former industrial area in Pratteln, east of Basel, is being transformed into an attractive urban quarter. The 'Diversity Connects' design on construction site A2 proposes an ensemble of four buildings, all featuring an innovative mix of varying residential forms that merge in an open ring on the ground floor.

Through a single-storey, open passage to the slightly higher courtyard, the block perimeter remains open in terms of urban planning, while maintaining the necessary privacy. Each building is constructed as a coherent structure. The buildings engage in dialogue with each other, contributing to the diverse character of the block through their interaction. On the two upper floors, the 'townhouses,' modelled after small terraced houses, exhibit their own typology, characterised by distinctive roof shapes. Each of the four buildings has its own profile. The theme of the landscape and building design is re-use: recycled or reusable materials are integrated wherever possible, both outdoors and in the construction. These measures comply with the principles of the circular economy and reduce resource consumption. The consistent implementation of these sustainable strategies creates an ecologically resilient, socially inclusive neighbourhood that is economically viable for the future. We are seeking Swiss Standard for Sustainable Building (SNBS) Gold certification here.
