New working environment AVAT in Tübingen

The design for the technology company AVAT envisages a forward-looking new construction project at the western entrance to Tübingen, offering modern office and production space and showcasing the company's special expertise to the outside world. One of the buildings makes a strong start in a northerly direction on Herrenberger Straße, thus creating identity and establishing an address. Arranged on a shared base, the buildings are playfully offset from each other in an east-west direction, creating a rhythmic flow that blends in with the surroundings. A north-south communication axis forms the backbone of the complex, providing clear orientation and a simple structure.

To the west, the outdoor spaces open up onto the green strip and stream, creating distance from the residential buildings and offering a pleasant place to spend time. The entire building is designed as a timber construction, with the exception of the access cores for bracing and individual areas with larger spans for production and the restaurant. In addition to the roof surfaces, the facades are also equipped with ribbon-like photovoltaic panels. This is intended to make the building largely energy self-sufficient. Black ribbons covered with PV panels structure the facades and reflect what is happening inside to the outside world. The high degree of prefabrication and the consistent grid pattern of the timber construction enable subsequent dismantling and relocation scenarios in line with the principle of circularity. The open basic structure with clear access lines and modular areas of use facilitates changeable configurations throughout the entire life cycle.
