Training Center for Apprentice Butchers

The immediate context in Proviantbachstraße is dominated by the artistically significant brick buildings of the former slaughterhouse area, which is now partly used as a cultural center. The project consists of the expansion and renovation of a building from the 1970s, with workshops, production facilities, classrooms, offices and boarding rooms.

The predominant use of brick has been taken up and applied as a new cladding material for the refurbished existing buildings. A central stairwell joins the old building with the new, highly visible, four-story cubic building. This new part of the building has a facade sheathed in glass mosaic tiles and was built over the single-story workshop building.
