House of literature Stuttgart, ongoing

Our concept for redesigning the house of literature is to give the event hall a future-oriented spatial character within its listed environment. For this purpose, the constructive structure has been made visible, the suspended ceiling has been removed and a new podium has been installed. A room atmosphere is created for the central hall, in which readings, meetings of the design advisory board and exhibitions can take place. On the one hand the history of the old building is perceptible and on the other hand expresses a decidedly new, contemporary architecture is created.

The Literaturhaus is a cultural venue in the centre of Stuttgart. Since its foundation in 2001, it has been located in the newly designed, former Bosch industrial area opposite the Liederhalle. In the listed building, the club of the House of Literature occupies two floors, including the former working space of Robert Bosch. Our task was to redesign the event hall. In this context, the floor, walls and ceiling, as well as the event technology and lighting, have been modernised.
