First Prize in Competition for a Comprehensive School

Together with Planstatt Senner, wh-p Beratende Ingenierue, and Winter Beratende Ingenieure, we are delighted to have won first prize in the competition for the Jungfernheide Comprehensive School in Berlin. Our design envisions a compact, circular structure whose form reflects the site’s former use as a sports field. From the jury’s statement: “The circular typology helps to create a focal point on the site and generate space for open areas.”

4th prize in the competition for the Opera House of the Future

We are delighted to have been awarded 4th prize in the international competition for the new Düsseldorf Opera House. Our design retains large parts of the existing building. The basic structure of the former department store offers ideal conditions for the supporting functions of the triad of opera, music school, and library. The façade wraps around the building like a shimmering dress, allowing for specific views in and out.

Recognition in competition for new inner-city elementary school

Our award-winning design for the new inner city elementary school blends into the heterogeneous surroundings in Heilbronn, which also include the existing educational campus. The main access route runs centrally through the timber-construction building and is designed as a spacious seated staircase on the first floor, which also serves as a grandstand for the assembly hall.

Design for a »City Hall of the Future« in the heart of Berlin

Our design in the competition »City Hall of the Future« envisages a building with a strong sculptural gesture. The individual levels of the new building are planned as freely playable, open structures for maximum flexibility in timber hybrid construction. Our ideas selection developed together with Rehwaldt Landschaftsarchitekten was awarded as one of the three first prizes.

Awarded in the competition for a new Molecular Biology Building

Our design for the new Molecular Biology Building has received an honorable mention. The teaching and research building completes Bonn's Poppelsdorf campus. In the center, the »Green House« invites you to learn, research, and linger, while providing relaxation and symbolizing the study of biology. In addition, it supports a natural ventilation concept for all areas that do not need to be mechanically ventilated.

Diversity connects: 1st prize in the competition for the Bredella area

Our design, developed in collaboration with landscape architects Chaves Biedermann, for construction site A2 on the Bredella site was awarded 1st prize by the jury. The plans are part of a transformation of the former industrial site in Pratteln (canton of Basel-Landschaft). As an interconnected yet diverse ensemble, the four buildings enter into a dialog with each other and contribute to the diverse character of the new urban quarter with their innovative mix of varying residential forms. Consequently, our design bears the title »Diversity connects«.

New Project: Fire Station of KIT

We were successful with our design in the tendering process for the new fire station building of the KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). It includes a two-storey main building and a single-storey annexe. The materials concrete, wood and aluminum are illustrated - and with them the construction method. Building materials and component joints are to be selected according to the principles of circular construction.

3rd prize in the competition for the new administration center in Kehl

Our design, submitted together with the landscape architects Planstatt Senner, envisages a seven-storey structure for the new administration center, which intersects with a one- and three-storey structure and connects to form a polygonal footprint. Congratulations to the competition team!

A social space that invites exploration and contemplation

The Museum of Art and History is the largest museum in Geneva. Our competition design, submitted jointly with Itten-Brechbühl, thomas jundt ingénieurs and map paysage, has been awarded 5th prize. Our design envisages restructuring and extending the cultural building built in 1910 and reinterprets the important Swiss museum. The aim is to create a space of openness and exchange, a social realm that invites exploration and contemplation. Congratulations to the entire competition team!

Flexible new school building with an »open stage«

Together with wh-p Ingenieure and Koeber Landschaftsarchitektur, we are delighted to have won 3rd prize in the competition for the extension of the Königin-Katharina-Stift school in the immediate vicinity of Stuttgart’s Staatstheater (state theater) and Staatsgalerie (state gallery) . The new building in our design provides a deliberate contemporary contrast to the traditional historic school building. An open, flexibly configurable spatial structure and an open stage facing the nearby Oberer Schlossgarten park complement the existing school building with a new building that matches the school’s cultural orientation.
